If you’re ready for a year that changes how you see food, farming, and yourself, the Wastlbauer FarmSchool’s Market Gardener Apprenticeship is your invitation.
From March to November 2026, four motivated participants will join us on the farm to learn the full rhythm of human-scale agriculture — from the first spring seedlings to the final winter harvest. This is hands-on, boots-on, real-world learning, teaching the market gardener method, created in partnership with the Market Gardener Institute (MGI) and rooted in the MGI Masterclass.
Learning by Doing — Every Day
Your season will rotate through key areas of the farm:
- Nursery & propagation
- Field cultivation & irrigation
- Tomato & cucumber tunnels
- Harvest, wash & pack, markets & deliveries
You’ll get real responsibility, make real decisions, and learn what it takes to keep a market garden thriving.
Theory That Actually Meets the Field
Each week includes structured study tied to the MGI Masterclass teaching the market gardener method — soil health, crop planning, water management, harvest systems, business basics, and ecology.
The difference? You’ll apply everything immediately, right outside the door.
Live the Full Farm Life
This apprenticeship isn’t just about vegetables. It’s about the whole ecosystem: cooking lunch for the team, caring for animals, managing pastures and orchards, handling weekend duties, and learning how a farm truly works from the inside out.
A Study With Momentum
The apprenticeship is a pathway into the global MGI network of small-scale farms. Your season here becomes a launchpad for real opportunities, from future apprenticeships to employment across Europe and beyond.
