Something new is taking root on our farm. After years of tending soil, growing the Wastlbauer into a diverse space for community, experimentation, and hands-on learning — and shaping our little corner of regenerative agriculture — we’re excited to finally share it: The Wastlbauer FarmSchool is coming in 2026.
As a flagship partner of the Market Gardener Institute’s global Farm School Program, we’re joining a worldwide network of farms teaching hands-on, human-scale agriculture. Guided by the spirit of Jean-Martin Fortier and the vibrant MGI community, the FarmSchool blends online learning, real-world practice, and mentorship — and brings it all to life right here between our river and forest.
Whether you're dreaming of your own market garden, looking to deepen your skills, or simply curious about a more grounded way of living, the Wastlbauer FarmSchool will offer something for you.
In 2026 you can join us for:
- A nine-month Market Gardener Apprenticeship (March-November), combining fieldwork, MGI Masterclass study, and personal mentoring — a full-season immersion into small-scale regenerative farming teaching the market gardener method.
- Holzer Permaculture & Market Gardening Intensive Seminar, taught together with the pioneer Josef Holzer, connecting ecological design with practical field systems.
- Fruit Tree Care & Pruning Workshops, hands-on learning among our 150 young fruit trees.
- Seasonal Market Gardening Weekends, perfect for beginners and emerging growers.
- Pickling & Processing Wednesdays, preserving summer’s abundance with joy and a jar in hand.
- Empowering Women Farmers Workshop — supporting women in agriculture through practical skills, leadership training, and connection.
We can’t wait to welcome our first participants, share what we’ve learned, and build the next chapter of small-scale agriculture — together.
All of this is an invitation:
To learn.
To grow.
To experiment.
To root yourself in a place where farming becomes both skill and story.
